Best Of The Early Years

This recording could just have easily been called "Memories" by Vocal Majority singers and fans who have followed the organization since its inception in 1972. Familiar songs always bring back memories of special occasions and favorite people. We hope a lot of our favorite people will listen to this collection of "electronically enhanced" music with the same nostalgia and pride as those who sang with the group during the first ten years or so.

The songs in this collection were taken from the master recordings of four previous albums, all of which are now out of circulation.

STANDING ROOM ONLY - Recorded shortly after The Vocal Majority won its first International Chorus Gold Medal in 1975. The album captured the live, intimate show atmosphere audiences enjoyed at our frequent "Good Time Music Shows" in various dinner theatres in Dallas.

WITH A SONG IN OUR HEART - A 1978 recording featuring eight songs arranged by the man who has shaped the VM sound for twenty years as musical director, Jim Clancy. Jim's contemporary, creative acappella arrangements have been copied and adapted by hundreds of ensembles throughout the history of The Vocal Majority.

HERE'S TO THE WINNERS - An album that was recorded after the VM won its second Chorus Gold Medal in 1979. That win began a string of unbroken victories in Barbershop Society Competitions that stretched into the 1990's.

A DECADE OF GOLD - The ten year anniversary of The Vocal Majority was celebrated with a recorded performance tour of San Francisco, Ins Angeles and Denver during the summer of 1982, right after the chorus won its third chorus title.
