Dear Todd:
Just a note to say that I've enjoyed listening to the Acoustix CD's very
much indeed. You can tell right away that you're four well prepared,
enthusiastic, and talented singers. I liked the variety, the fine
engineering, and the tasteful arranging. There's really not much to
criticize. Obviously, my personal tastes go towards the jazz-influenced
pieces, which come off very well. Please congratulate everyone involved,
while accepting my heartfelt good wishes for continued success in the New
Year.
All the best,

I only give you standing ovations every time I hear you perform because I know I will look

Joel et all:
Just got through browsing through your web site. Lots of interesting facts
and trivia! Most enjoyable. I especially enjoyed all the New York stories
with Joel (the other one) and Peter. Joel (January) knows New York, and we
too (Barbara and me) have been given the grand tour. Maybe some day Joel
will grow up, but I hope it's not anytime soon! Anyway, besides
complementing
the web site, I wanted to thank you guys (all-y'all) for the super job on the
Meyerson
show. Aside from a sound system-less intro, the set was a smash. (Remember,
you guys picked the sound man... I saw his picture on your web site!) Seriously,
you
add a element of professionalism to everything you do, not to mention some
fabulous singing. It's an honor to be associated with you guys. And finally, a
late but
never the less sincere thanks for singing "This Is The Moment" to us
at Kansas City.
I know you don't have to, and your schedule is already crazy, but every time you
do it,
you really touch me and the rest of the guys. You bring out some of the happiest
tears
I've ever shed. You add a touch of class to everything you do. Wearing that gold
medal
recognizes your accomplishments, but it also brings with it a responsibility.
You all go
way beyond meeting that responsibility and you serve as an example to others.
Here
are some long overdue thanks for doing what you do.

Hi, Todd...
Don't know if you even remember me, but we've met a couple of times over the
past 20 years. Not important. You guys have been (and continue to be) great
ambassadors for a cappella, for education, for music in general... and I'm glad
that I've had the
opportunity to "experience" you, your Dad, and your group. I know you
don't need to hear it from me, but keep doing what you are
doing... because I know that you won't stagnate, you just keep getting better
and trying new things... and in the process inspire many, many lives... far
beyond your sphere of influence. Just wanted to let you know that I appreciate
it all. And say thanks!

You are in a world all by yourselves, using barbershop as a springboard and
going everywhere imaginable. I only wish I had been there when you were
looking for a bass. I hope to see you in person soon. In the
meantime, I
am thoroughly enjoying your recordings. Thanks for opening a whole new
dimension.

Hi Acoustix, I've got some questions......
I'm a 17-year-old boy from Germany and I just discovered you by watching the
simpsons with it's own barbershop quartet and I found out that there's a
real famous quartet called acoustix in the USA and I was so impressed of
your music, when i listen to your CD "Stars and Stripes"! The version
of
"Star Spangled Banner" is unbelievable and also the other songs on the
CD. I
also like the simon & garfunkel montage very much. Who makes this great
arrangements? Where can I get it? Are there any T-Shirts or something like
that from Acoustix? Thanx for your reply
Your fan
Bjoern
PS: Keep on singing.

I just wanted to let you know that I say you when you were in Boise and
you hooked me in. I have been listening to Stars and Stripes almost
everyday. I love it. My father died last July and my mother expresses
her grief by listening to song #7 every night. I also really enjoy the
arrangement of Simon and Garfunkal tunes. I wish you would do a whole CD
on tunes from the 70's. Keep on singing!
Sincerely,
Karen Clarke

I remember seeing ACOUSTIX for the first time in Bournemouth in 1991 at
BABS and thought that you were all fantastic. From what I hear The Vocal
Majority are coming over to England next year to Bournemouth and I hope
that ACOUSTIX can make it as The Vocal Majority package isn't complete
without you!! I hope that we can keep in touch and if you are coming over to
England next year, see you then!

Hi. This is Aaron. Man, I can't tell you what it meant to me to hang
around and sing with you guys. Last year, I saw you and didn't sing and I
kicked myself for it. It was just great this year on your 10th anniversary
because you were the first group I saw and you made me love barbershop. I
appreciate you kinda taking me under your wing last night and making this
weekend the greatest barbershop experience to date. Now if only I can find
3 guys like you all for me. Thanks again. I won't soon forget it. Maybe
next year I'll learn another of your songs. :) See ya later.

Dear Mr. Wilson,
Hello, My name is Drew Doerr, I am 14, and I am the tenor in my own
barbershop quartet. Just to let you know, I think you and all the rest of
your group are the best singers I've ever heard, with keepsake and platinum
in second and third. I have listened to barbershop a lot and I think that's
what I want to do with my life maybe. How did you go about doing that? How
should I? I think I might have the talent to do it. we are going to sing
your arrangement of silver bells at our winter concert in Gainesvile, FL. I
tried to figure out You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" Because Mr. Joel is
amazing in it, but there was too much clashing for me to figure it out, but
oh well. Maybe I could suggest for you to tour in my city? Please? Please
write back to me at BDoerr9650@aol.com. I want to know one more thing before
I end this letter. What are your ranges? I am so curious on that.Thanx for
reading
my letter,

WOW else can I say. I am an 18yr old student at The University of
Toledo. I sing Bass in a newly formed Quartet. I will never forget the
first time I heard Acoustix, that's what made me LOVE barbershop harmony.
One day I hope to have half the skill that you guys have. I will be there
when you come to Canton, Ohio. I will attempt to introduce myself to you.
I own every Acoustix CD ever made, I listen to them all the time.. I watch
Voices which i think is the greatest barbershop movie ever created. I even
recently purchased the arrangement of "Shine on Your Shoes/Steppin'
favorite acoustix song. You guys are the best!

To Todd and the gang
I am so thrilled to see what you guys have done for barbershopping, taking
it from the fringes of entertainment to "center stage" in many
instances...
and your web site brings it into the new millennium... I've been a fan for
years and just ordered several cd's from the site, along with some Vocal
majority recordings... by the way, I learned to sing bass when I was 17,
sitting with my ear to the hi fi speaker, listening to the Suntones, back in
1970...I know most of the arrangements by heart...

it was barbershop. Your music is being heard everywhere now.

All four of us came away from the Dixie Lakeside Harmony Weekend with a
real feeling of accomplishment and forward movement as a quartet. We
have you gentlemen to thank for all of that. Each of you brought us a
special set of lessons that will contribute to our growth for a long
time to come. For our part, we will do everything in our power to make
sure the lessons stick. We hope you heard some of your handiwork in our
performance on the show Saturday night. Please keep in touch.
You have given us gifts we cannot repay, so we'll just have to pass it
on to our audiences. May all you moments of InDEciSIon be spent with us!

My name is Spencer Normington and myself and 3 other fellows started a
Barber Shop Quartet. You may or may not remember someone mailing you by the
name of Devon Riske saying the same thing. I am the lead in the quartet. We
watched the video of you guys and we were just struck at you talent and
everything you had going for you. We remarked that you guys are what we
eventually want to be like. We have picked a name "Humor in Harmony",
We put
a lot of humorous things into our performance so thus the name. Anyhow your
information you gave us was very much appreciated and helped us quite a bit.
We all looked at it and pointed out our most important info. Then we shared
it with each other. I know you must get hundreds of emails every day saying
this but I will say it anyway you guys are an inspiration to us in "Humor
in
Harmony". Thanks a lot for everything.

Hi guys! Don't know if you remember me...I direct the Nashua Granite
Statesmen chorus, representing the NED in KC this week. Acoustix did our
show two years ago, and helped in large part to make it one of our most
successful shows ever. You were also part of one of our more memorable
after-afterglows (at my house), as we enjoyed a visit from Hudson, NH's
finest at about 3:00AM...seems one of our neighbors wasn't as fond of the
"Jezebel" tag on our deck at that hour as I was! No sense of humor ;-)
Thanks, and see you in KC,

Hello,
My name is Sloan Yarborough and I had the privilege to watch a show of
yours on television about six years ago. It came on PBS and I recall you all
singing with "The Ritz", "The Rural Route Four", and
"The Southern Gateway
Chorus" on the program. I just wanted to email you and tell you how moved I
was at your performance that evening. You all sang with such passion and
that night I really got a sense of true barbershop music at its best. I just
wanted to thank you so much for sharing your music with me and I really
wanted you to know that it has inspired me to sing barbershop music until I
just can't sing anymore. I appreciate all you have done and felt I needed to
share this with you. I hope I have the privilege to hear you again
sometime. You guys are a dynamite group!
Thanks for your inspiration,

Hi Todd,
It's me, Jill, Steve I's girlfriend....just wanted to thank you guys for a
great show, and especially for letting me sing with you! Or should I say,
letting me replace you for a song. It was a lot of fun. You guys are
incredibly gracious and a real joy to be around!!! Not to mention you all
dress well! It was really nice to hang out with another quartet for a
change. I love Jokers, but at this point, I could replace Steve and sing
their whole set with them. But you are the quartet that really got me
hooked on barbershop. In 1991 I went to Wooster, Ohio to see you and
Bluegrass. That did it for me. So you hold a special place in my
heart...along with the Suntones, of course :-) Perhaps I will see you all
at International. Again thanks, and I had a super time! Take care and see
you soon!

Hello to all members of Acoustix.
My name is Torbjørn Aadland. I'm from Norway, and I'm a student at the

months ago I came over your home site on the web. I had never heard of you

"Jazz, Jazz, Jazz". I got it recently, and I'm very satisfied. Your
singing
is great!

Acoustix - Jeff + Joel,
A few thoughts from a veteran barbershop grunt, living and enjoying your
music out in the bushes of Richmond, VA. No matter what the rules say about
wearing medals, etc., you guys WITH JOEL are fantastic, and Champions, at
least as great a sound as with Jeff, to my ear anyway And Joel's attitude
about the "medal" discussion is just great ... who wants to wear
something
they didn't win?? He sure is Championship caliber in all ways!!! My wife, not
usually a barbershop fan, appropriated your "Jazz, Jazz, Jazz"
CD as soon as I received it, put it in her car and I haven't seen it since,
although I do hear pieces of songs occasionally as she pulls into the
driveway. Thanks for taking the time to read this. I just joined your mailing

Yo Todd,
In the coalfields just outside of Pittsburgh in the early Fifties, my
baritone grandfather, and a well established other threesome, practiced
barbershop at least once a week. They did it in late evening, past my
allotted time for TV, and I heard it through the furnace vents in our three
story house. Never drunk, but under the influence of their experiences, and
just a couple of beers. There was intense discussion through those furnace
vents, in my upstairs bedroom, as to how to "Perfect" their efforts.
Harmony
and perfection are synonymous. Their claim to fame was that they were "good
enough", that they got free beer in Pittsburgh "just for
singing". I'm not
sure that the world understands that "harmony" is not about the early
1900's, it's about a love for harmony, Acoustix has mastered that
harmony, and have reinvigorated a lot of us, here, in Chicago. Jeff enhanced
some Irish ballads beyond my personal beliefs. My wife doesn't even cry
during sad movies (Trauma Nurse), but I saw the tears during Jeff's Celtic
renditions. Acoustix epitomizes the spirit of SPEBSQSA, yeah, I'm
ordering the available CD's for friends and family, but thank you for your
impeccable harmony, and thank you for keeping America singing. Oh yeah,
where can we get a list of future "gigs"?? You take care, Todd, and
again,
from The Heartland, we'll never forget your personal reply, and what
Acoustix represents!!

Todd:
I've been singing barbershop since 1970, and my favorite quartet, and
the one I consider tops of all time, is the Suntones. I have tapes and
video with the Blue Grass Student Union. A couple of years ago, I heard
the Acoustix in Tyler, Texas, at Caldwell Auditorium. You were
fantastic. I bought "Stars and Stripes", and I can't get over it yet.
Now I'm confused; my 1-2-3 of all time are Suntones, Acoustix, and Blue
Grass Student Union, but sometimes the order gets scrambled. At any
rate, I just want to say that you, your father, and the other great
singers I've mentioned have brought incomparable joy to me and my
daughter, Stacy, who loves it as much as I do. Thanks to you, and to
God for giving you this amazing talent.

Hi Todd,
Congratulations once again on the New Year?s gig in N.Y. Acoustix is
rapidly becoming the most popular quartet in the history of the Society.
I believe that you fellows can attract more young people to our hobby
than any other quartet around because you do so many things so well.
Just continue to do a pure Barbershop song now and again to keep the
critics in our group happy. I predict a great future for Acoustix.
Thanks again.

Just wanted to say I was 'introduced' to the Acoustix on a video tape I
obtained from our PBS Station in Conway, AR. This was a tape of 3 different
quartets recorded, I think, in the early 90's. These guys are spectacular,
and I am going to check out your merchandise. A few weeks ago I was surfing
the TV and saw them on I believe Good Morning America (one of the morning
shows, anyway) and just caught the tail end of it. I'm glad they're still
around....wish I had that kind of talent. Thoroughly enjoy their
music....and my hat is off to whoever does their arrangements.
Unsurpassed!!

Todd,
I'm afraid that I've got a confession to make... During the last football
season, my son Ryan's team was playing on our home field and his was the
first game of the day. There are four games during the long football day
and since he is only six years old and on the pee-wee team, his was the
first one up. My wife and I help at the field with refreshments, score
keeping, electrical fixes, etc. and just before the start of the first
game, the PA announcer was flipping out because he couldn't find his
recording of the National Anthem; the one that he's used for the last five
or ten years! My wife yelled to me telling me "Neal's freaking out 'cause
he lost his tape! What are we gonna do?" "Damn! I know! I'll be right
back!!" I ran the block and a half back to my house to get the new CD that
I just got in the mail. Yeah, it was your Stars and Stripes CD! I made it
back just in time and tossed the CD into the player, hit track two, turned
the PA up loud and let it fly! The crowd went nuts! They LOVED it! I played
it for each of the next three games and the crowd (a different one each
time) went berserk! You know, Barbershop and a cappella always brings tears
to my eyes but THAT day was something special! So that's the confession...
Well, I guess with all the lawyers and record companies copyrights, It's
probably not a good idea to play it anymore, but I had to let you know that
you guys brought a lot of smiles and a few tears to a couple of hundred
people here in northern New Jersey. Neal has his old tape back, but I think
it will be a long time before I forget that excitement.
Hope to catch you guys in Pittsburgh...
Thanks,

Dearest Todd:
We just finished reading the latest chapter of Adventures With Acoustix.
Joel writes extremely well and we feel as if we made the journey with you.
Of course, many of your related experiences were just reruns of our own.
Clint and I sat through the entire Millennium celebration with ABC. It was
an exhilarating event and we were equally excited with each time zone. Many
comments were made, by each of us, throughout the long broadcast regarding
the monumental undertaking by ABC and what a seemingly glitch-less production
it was. Of course, we were disappointed that you didn't sing for an hour, at
least, but we were thrilled by both of your segments. We nearly went to
bed before your second spot but, decided to stay till the lights in the
studio went out. So happy we did! You will have so many wonderful memories
for the rest of your life (take it from the old "horse's mouths") but
this
will be the zenith for you. We think of you often and appreciate your
sharing with us. All our love to our other son,
Clint and Bobbie

First of all, I'm 18 and the only person at my school who really knows
what a barbershop quartet is, and let me just say this, I was at your
Christmas show at Timken High School on December 11 and it was
unbelievable. You guys are fabulous, I've seen you many times before and
it's always outstanding. I got a little worried when Jeff left the quartet
because I thought maybe the quartet would break up. Boy was I relieved
when you picked up Joel. He's even better than Jeff and makes the quartet
even better than before. Thanks and say hi to Rick for me!

Wow! I can't tell you how privileged I feel to have discovered your
group and to be able to listen to a few of your tracks on the internet. I
will most definitely buy all of your recordings. There are a few rare
moments in life when certain music provides an emotional and spiritual
uplift. After having a little bit of the blahs after the holidays, your
music has given me a renewal of energy and fresh new appreciation of my
love for music. My wife and I look forward to seeing you in concert this
fall. Best wishes in the New Year,

Dear Todd,
Hey there! This is Ryan Wright, now a student at
the University of Texas at Dallas and an alumni of
Richland High School in North Richland Hills, Texas.
Once upon a time, back in 1993 and 1994, my high
school choir director at the time (Brad White)
introduced myself and three other young men to
barbershop quartet singing. As the interest and our
investment in the hobby grew, we found out about
things like the vocal majority and SPEBSQSA. But one
of the greatest and most thrilling discoveries was
when we found out about the Acoustix, a phenomenally
dynamic barbershop quartet from Dallas, Texas. Well,
long story short, us four boys pretty much sang all
your stuff. We scraped up what money we could and
ordered the sheet music, sang tunes for the mayor, our
friends and family, and for a few high school football
games. Unfortunately as we all went off to college the
four of us lost touch, never again to sing those
awesome tunes on that first album, the new science of
sound. However, I am still just as in love as I first
was with the God-given sound you guys (speaking of
when Jeff was the bass) put forth. I didn't know you
had a web site, and I don't have a chance to visit VM,
so I thought for sure that finding the CD's or
contacting you would be an arduous if not impossible
task. I found out about this site and went to it as
fast as I could. I am so excited that you guys are
still singing together and I can't wait to order all
the CD's again (I've lost them all over the
years--sniff, sniff :-)). Well, I hope you get this
message and I hope I can talk with you sometime in
the future. Thanks for your time, Todd. Take care.

Todd,
First, I would like to tell you that I love your quartet. I am 18 years
old. I was introduced to Barbershop when I was 12. I joined the society
last September. The first quartet I ever heard was the Gas House Gang.
They were awesome. I just couldn't appreciate just how good they really
were because I was 14. A few months later I saw the PBS special with
Acoustix on it. I was so amazed by Stars And Stripes forever and That's an
Irish Lullaby. Being a kid, of course the tags amazed me. I went to the
1997 Internationals and bought the CD with Stars and Stripes on it. I have
to say that just about hooked me. Hearing my favorite song "This Is
The Moment" was unbelievable. I agree with you. Great Barbershop appeals
to kids. Not "regular" Barbershop. I'll never forget the first time I
heard Keepsake do "How Deep Is The Ocean." That tag still gives me
chills.
Anyway, I'm rambling on! I now sing with the Easton, PA Chapter. My
quartet, Runnin' Wild, after 2 months together, made the finals in the MAD
Prelims and 2 months later placed second in our division behind Jack Pinto's
quartet. I want to thank you. I feel that quartets like Acoustix push
young people to strive to be great. For without Acoustix, my interest in
barbershop may never have come about. I would never have had these
accomplishments and the fun that I now have. Thank You! (If you wish to
respond, respond privately, thanks)

Hi Todd,
I wanted to write you a note to say how much I enjoy ACOUSTIX and
anything/everything you sing. A very good friend of mine (a tall, rather
skinny bass with a great voice named Brian Hamm) had the opportunity to sing
with you after a performance you gave in Seattle earlier this year and was
also thoroughly impressed with both your graciousness and professionalism.
I had the opportunity to hear you live (with Jeff) at the Evergreen
district's Harmony College Northwest (Tacoma, Wa.) in 1994. I have both your
first two CD's and have heard, though don't own yet, "Jazz, Jazz,
Jazz", and
I must say that I enjoy your performances on all. I find singing along with
your recordings causes me to sing better and I am far more warmed up and
relaxed after using your recordings for that purpose. I do enjoy basking in
the rich sound and not singing along, too. What can I say, I enjoy ACOUSTIX
and consider myself a friend of the quartet. I just can't wait to hear you
live again sometime. Thanks to you and Jason, Joel and Rick (and to Jeff,
too) for giving me so much to listen to and enjoy!
A friend,
Paul Hunter
(phunter@sd22.bc.ca)
After having heard your Jazz, Jazz, Jazz CD and the Christmas CD. I must tell you that in
my opinion you have raised male quartet singing to a new level. The change in you quartet
has made a dramatic improvement. At this moment, I would have to say that you stand alone
in the Barbershop world. I sing with the Tidelanders, Singsations and with a quartet and
have heard many groups, but I was amazed when I heard your new sound. Keep up the great
work! You are a credit to barbershopping and the music profession in general.

I think Take 6 is the best I've ever heard,
by a long shot, for a number of reasons: their blend, their arrangements, their soul,
their ability to act as a single unit, and their combination of incredible range and
unreal tightness. After them, I'd rank Acoustix, then a long list of
groups (Ambiance, Vox One, the House Jacks, the Buffalo Bills, Chanticleer, the King's
Singers, the Bobs, to name a few, depending on what you're looking for).

Todd, I remember having gone to a concert of the VM last during Christmas of 1997.
Acoustix was there with your new bass. Of course, the VM gave their usual amazing
performance, and you guys were right on! I love singing barbershop music as does the rest
of my family. My brothers and I have a quartet and we hope to win the gold someday.
Anyway, after that concert, my brother and I went up and asked you all to sing with us. At
first, the whole quartet sang with us, which was fun. And then, you and Joel hung around
and sang with us for a while. I doubt that you remember that, but that meant so much to
us. Ever since then, I have had a great deal of repsect for you guys and have all your
recordings and am a very big fan. I hope I don't sound like some freak, I just wanted to
express my appreciation for you taking the time to sing with us, it was a night we'll
never forget! I wish God's blessings on you, your family, and your quartet! Keep up
the good work! Sincerely,
Nathan Whittlesey

Dear Acoustix, I am very greatful to you for the
music that you have given me. A long time ago I went with my mother to her chapter of
Sweet Adelines in Gettysburg and was introduced to this wonderful art form. At 16, I
joined Dundalk and sang under Fred King.......now I am a member of a quartet as a baritone
(started out in tenor land) and am able to sing with my mother (bass). And I am also
working with a quartet (where I sing bass) and small group of barbershoppers which I
founded last year on my college campus. I have shown many friends the CD and video that I
have of you and everyone in my groups love you guys. Peace and love wherever you go. Thank
you from my heart.

I finally found you! I just recently got into the computer age and the
online search engines have really helped me find the wonderful things I have been
searching for but only to find dead ends. My two boys love to listen to your tapes,
Masquerade is one of their favorite songs that you sing, they always try to hold the notes
out as long as you do. They are only 4 and 5 so we are working on their pitch. I have yet
to find a group that touches your style and technique. Every note has such a powerful
punch that it goes right through you. I just hope you realize how you touch alot of
peoples life with your music and make everyone get to taste that little piece of heaven. I
have given up on singing in an award winning quartet but still sing and hope to pass it on
to my boys. Thank you for being so great and not letting the babershop sound and tradition
ever die. Get the fire burning we are all counting on you!!!!

Hi. My name is Aaron Kellert and I live in Oklahoma City. I am a big barbershop follower
and the thing that really gets me pumped up before a performance or a show, I like to
listen to good quartets pop those overtones out of those last big chords. My favorites are
you guys in 1990 with Masquerade and Gas House Gang in 1993 with I'm In Love Again/Them
There Eyes. Anyway, I'm a HUGE fan of yours and I really love to listen to you guys sing
your two winners from the 1990 Convention. I first saw you guys when I was in Denton at
the Harmony Youth Explosion. If you remember me and my guys, we sang after you at the
after-party and we sang Coney Island Baby. I was the bass. Talk to you again later. Thanks
for listening.

Just wanted to drop you a line and let you know how inspirational you guys are! I sung in
my very first show in November where you were the guest quartet. I learned first hand what
the term vocal production meant. You really didn't need the sound system! Your rendition
of The Stars and Stripes Forever would have made John Phillip Sousa himself very proud. It
sent chills up my spine! Thank you again for a fine performance and your socializing and
singing at the afterglow.

Hi- I recently saw you perform at the East Coast Summit and found you
to be the most impressive group there- barbershop style music is often over looked by
recent generations- but i am sure that if my generation was more exposed to it- I was
amazed by how beautiful your voices sounded and I hope to hear you again live- until then
I was hoping that if you had some kind of mailing list you could add me too it- I would
very much appreciate it- thank you

I printed off a copy of the tag just before a rehearsal this week and the Happiness
Emporium gave it a quick run through. Is there any chance the arrangement is available in
men's voicing. This SAI version is excellent but we found it much better for us down a
third. (Just kidding!!) Great web page and as always, the Acoustix are the most fantastic
quartet around. God bless,

Dear Acoustix, The first time I saw you was at the
Vocal Majority Christmas Concert, Dec. 1997. I sing bass at church and in my school choir
at Southwest Texas State University, San Marcos,Tx. Anyway that is why I liked Joel so
much because he sings bass, and a damn good one at that!! I thought to myself - He is not
that old, I could do this! Be apart of a barbershop chorus and maybe join a quartet
sometime - which for the longest time I thought it was for older guys like my father's age
and older! I heard on the radio that Acoustix was coming to the Riverbend Church in
Austin. So I went and saw you guys along with the Heart of Texas Chorus. I really liked
your performance, so I decided to buy your CD's! Took them home and immediately put them
in my player! So I was jammin' out to them and singing along (sort of). I thought this is
cool - I get to hear Joel Rutherford anytime I want. I finally had the time to look at the
CD and I noticed the bass guy kind of looks like Joel, but not really. I thought well
maybe he didn't slick back his hair for the picture, and that's why he looks different. So
I took out the jacket and started looking at it. I read: Rick Middaugh, Lead Todd Wilson,
Tenor Jason January, Baritone Jeff Oxley, Bass What? That guys name on stage was Joel
Rutherford!! Who in the world is Jeff Oxley!!! and what did they do with Joel?! I was
already to hear Joel and I got Jeff Oxley!! who granted is good, but its like having to
settle for the cherry when you wanted the whole sundae! I felt gipped!! Joel was the only
reason why I bought the CD's in the first place! Being a late comer to the seen - I didn't
know that the award winning Acoustix was not the group I saw on stage. So I got the CD's
solely on the fact of who I saw on stage! So I ask - Where's Joel?! I hope you read all of
this , I'm sorry for the length, but I felt that I was swindled out of hearing Joel. Thank
you for your time. Joel Rocks The House!!!! - just a title suggestion for your next CD -
sorry, felt moved! One of Joel's many fans,

I just wanted to let you know how much enjoyment I get
listening to your CD's. I sing with the Humboldt Harmonaires in Eureka, CA, where my dad

Acoustix I can't tell you how much. I am inspired. I've seen the Voices tape, and it too
is an inspiring piece of work. We plan to show it to the chorus the last practice of
'97--I hope it inspires others, as it has me, to work a little harder at improving.

Dear Jason, Todd, Rick, and Joel - I just
want to thank you for your encouragement and friendship to my seven year old son Paul Jr.

We hope to attend another one of your performances sometime when you are again in the

Dear Acoustix: My wife and I first heard you on PBS and soon thereafter purchased your

I have only been able to locate a listing of your 1997 engagements and would like to know

you should make a Christmas cd. I can only imagine how great that would be. The innovative

I am a former Sweet Adeline and a huge fan of barbershop. I have heard of your quartet

day after Christmas I sent off a letter to find out how I could obtain a copy of this
video. I arrived home last night and there was a message from someone, but now I have to
wait until Monday morning to call. I can't wait to get this video. I got onto the internet
first thing this morning to see your website, and I am excited that you have another video
out. I will be calling in my order for that and for your CD's. I have not yet heard your
new bass perform with you, but from the fan mail I read he must be good. Please let me
know if you will be in my area. Sincerely,

Hi Todd. My name is Keith Burrow. My wife, Alison, and myself are good friends of your
newest member, Joel. I just visited your Acoustix site for the first time and I'm
impressed by two things. First, Mr. Rutherford has decidedly understated the magnitude of
Acoustix to his Canadian friends! Not being from the barbershop world, I didn't appreciate
your international success from the mere mention of your name. However, since visiting
your site, now I do! Very impressive, and we are very proud of our good friend. We miss
him much. Which brings me to the second thing; You as webmaster have done an excellent job
of crafting your site. I found it easy to navigate and fun to explore. As a network
administrator for a large corporation here in Kitchener, Ontario, I can appreciate the
time and effort this must have been. Great job. Hope to meet you in person sometime. Say
hi to Joel for us!

Your performance, and participation with the Vocal Majority, last night was marvelous, as

I wanted to personally thank you and your quartet for giving what was a young barbershopper a hell of a time on many occasions. I found a picture of me posing with you guys at the 1991 Harmony College after singing "when it comes to lovin the girls". This was about as cool as it got as a 15 year old barbershopper and is still about as cool as it gets at any age. In the subsequent years I've sung with you guys another dozen or so times and I'll never forget a single chord. I'm glad that you guys are so willing to let just about anybody sing with you at just about any time because that's what keeps a lot of guys going in this strange but wonderful "hobby" of ours. What you guys do for so many people is so wonderful and I hope you realize that it happens probably more often than anyone thinks.

Externally, the perception (well, ONE of them) of your quartet is that the
stars-and-stripes motif matches with that of another starry Dallas institution (the one
that camps out in Irving). They are often referred to as "America's Team", and
the stars, while more truly symbolic of their Texas roots, match up well with that motif.
While we in the barbershop world don't really tend to regionalize our champion quartets
(The Ritz are more thought of as music teachers who do some entertaining arrangements,
rather than four Ohio guys) it has always struck me that Acoustix, intentionally or not,
has positioned itself in an analogous fashion to the Cowboys -- as "America's
Quartet".

Acoustix, I am a student at Washington University in St. Louis, and my hometown is in
Miami, Florida. My love for your group was actually an accident. I happen to be an a
cappella singer in the coed group, "Mosaic Whispers" at Washington University.
As it so happens, David Wright was my calculus professor, and I know he has arranged
several songs for you, including "Stars and Stripes." I had heard his SPEBSQSA
chapter of St. Charles, MO sing a variety of songs at one of their rehearsals. Needless to
say, I was blown away by the sound. Since I lived in Miami, they invited me to watch them
at the championships in Miami Beach last summer. I ended up buying the wrong tickets and
instead saw the past champions' concert, of which your group took part. Not only did I
think your quartet was the best of the show, I thought it was the best I have ever heard
in general! I bought your CD, "Stars and Stripes" and I am going to purchase
your other albums. "Stars and Stripes" is fantastic! I ended up memorizing all
of the vocal parts for most of the songs. In any case, I just wanted to drop a line and
tell you how much I enjoy your group and how it has given me a deeper appreciation for
barbershop as a whole. As a 22 yr. old, I am not expected by my peers to enjoy barbershop,
but I can tell you, that not only I, but others my age on campus love barber shop and
especially Acoustix. Keep up the great work!
