More of JAPAN

In June 2000, Acoustix spent 10 days in Japan.  During that 10 days,
they gave 4 performances and made a bunch of new friends.

Much travel in Japan is done by train.
Here, we are waiting to take the "Shinkansen" - the Bullet Train - from Osaka to Okayama.
Apparently this is amusing.

The Bullet Train is a rather space-age lookin' affair.
Pretty boy, Joel T posing for the cameras.

Every venue we performed at while in Japan was a symphony hall less than five years old.
This is the Okayama Symphony Hall.  The performance space is in the bottom half
of the cylindrical section.  To the far left you can see the hotel we stayed in.
It's the dumpy looking brown building.

This is a postcard view of the inside of the Okayama Symphony Hall.
Very beautiful... and a pleasure to sing in. (Grand piano not included)

About a 10 minute walk from our hotel was one of the most
beautiful and famous castles in Okayama.
Unfortunately it was pouring down rain.
Fortuna
tely we had umbrellas.
Unfortunately they were really small.
Fortunately we didn't pay for them.
Unfortunately the castle was closed and there was all kinds of nasty-looking
scaffolding and blue tarp stuff outside.
