Dear ACOUSTIX
THANK YOU VERY MUCH, for coming to Aberdeen, SD and making our show such
a great success. I have never heard such blend and uniformity with a full
sound that was never off pitch. I talked with many people today with nothing
but the highest praise for your group. Lets Keep America Singing.

Mr. January,
I was in attendance at the Vocal Majority concert Saturday in Ft. Worth and
was pleased to see your group was also on the program. I picked up a
couple CDs but was so awestruck, I couldn't form an intelligible sentence.
Please let me express my appreciation in writing. I enjoyed VM very much,
but Acoustix stole the show. That sort of harmony is quite difficult, yet you
all made it sound so easy. But, I'm sure you've heard that a few times. Your
personalities added much. It's very difficult to keep a song like "12 Day
of
Christmas" fresh, but each verse was more entertaining than the last. Your
performance was one of the most clean, most crisp, most professional
performances it's ever been my privilege to witness. The selections were a
great mix of things and the arrangements were absolutely beautiful.
As a musician, I have difficulty getting into the holiday spirit because of
the increased workload that comes this time of year. Acoustix made me
forget about the commitment overload and gave me a wonderful holiday
experience that I will remember for a very long time to come. Thank you
all so much. Enough gushing. You really are a phenomenal group and I
would be happy to help you in any way I can when you're in the Dallas/Ft.
Worth area -- manning the tables at your appearances, any administrative duties,
whatever. Please feel free to contact me.

camaraderie that you bring. Thank you. My wife and I wish you and your

Hi Todd,
Just wanted to say your guys really made the show for us. I hadn't taken
her to the VM since we met and you sure made it enjoyable for us. That's
why I took her to Ft Worth and not the Dallas show. Keep up the good work
singing, as if I had to tell you, and we'll be at your next show.
Have the merriest of holidays.

Todd--- what a GREAT HIT in Ft. Myers. It's been quite awhile since I saw
Acoustix and you guys just keep raising the bar. Good for you!! A real
class act from A-Z. I love to watch you perform as much as listen. You guys
really know how to connect with the audience. You seem to get them the
minute you hit the stage and never let them loose until the end. Absolutely
wonderful and masterful entertaining. Pass this on to the others.
Great seeing you Todd. My very best to your family.

Thank you so very much for the amazing performance tonight in Denver at the
Loertto Heights Theater. I have truly enjoyed your music for 10 years and
tonight was the first time I have been able to see you live....and you four
gentlemen know how to sing!!! I had goose bumps during your entire time on
stage. Thank you for providing such good and wholesome music. Keep on doing
what you do...you have a true fan here. Thanks for taking the time to shake
my hand and say hello afterwards.
Sincerely,

Hello my name is Craig Brown(from the Bahamas) and I say your concert in
Boone. You might remember me I was in the front row and (was the only black
person there). Any way I just wanted to say that I have been performing for
I sometime. I've been to countless concerts and worked with countless
people like Kirby Shaw, Mac Huff and so on but in my opinion your concert
was a highlight in my musical career thus far. Your show was as musical as
Bobby Macferrin and as entertaining as any N'Sync show. So to sum it all up
I just want to say great job. I hope that you all become even more renown so
that younger individuals would have the pleasure of discovering your music.
Hope to see you next year here at App as I continue my international
studies. Thank you

I'm so pleased to find an email address for you guys. I was at the Heart
of Indiana show in Indpls on July 15 at Warren Central Performing Arts
Center. Meridy Thorn, the director, is my aunt. I've been making the trip
from Peoria to Indy for lots of years to see their show, and have never been
so amazed by 4 guys' voices. Everyone in our group was thrilled to listen.
And half of the group had no previous barbershop experience! You all made
believers of them. I enjoyed listening to you so much. Best of luck in all
upcoming events. You are great entertainers. My 5-year-old daughter (who
never moved a muscle when you were singing!) is still amazed by Joel's eyebrows.
Sincerely,

Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your performance in Indy on
the 15th. I came up with a friend from Louisville (we weren't with
that other group - we missed out on a free ride) I'm a member of the
Purdue Varsity Glee Club, and I found out about y'all because we sing some
of your arrangements. (This is the moment, So Many Voices, God Bless
America. Actually, they are really arrangements of your arrangements!)
Anyway, we do 100 performances during the school year so I have a bit of
experience myself. All that time being on stage allows me to appreciate you
even more, especially how you work the crowd and show your appreciation.
Hopefully I'll be able to see a performance again - I don't think I've ever
been more impressed and more satisfied with a concert experience!

Hi,
I just wanted to say thank you for such a great show last night at the Heart
of Indiana show. Also, I wanted to thank the 4 of you for being so nice to
my son, Adam. He was very excited to meet you and thrilled that you sang
"This is the Moment" for him. With your busy schedule and all the
people
you come in contact with, it's nice to know that you took the time make his
night special. Looking forward to hearing you again soon.

Todd, Jason, Rick, and Joel;
Thanks again guys for being willing to share your wonderful gift of
Barbershop harmony, and the other variety of music styles you presented
to us in Spokane last Saturday evening. I know it was a long day for
each of you, but I hope you felt our sincere and cordial hospitality.
What you brought was very special and it was greatly appreciated. My
wife Karen (one of the gals-pink top, that helped at the cd/ tape booth)
and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to your "Stars and Stripes" CD
(could
you please send more? :-} just kidding!) yesterday afternoon after
church. The real treat for us though was hearing you live. We wish each
of you and your loved ones continued success in your vocations, and this
"hobby" as you endeavor to "keep the whole world singing".
Cordially,
Harold and Karen Voltz

Thanks to the Acoustix for a wonderful show and afterglow in Willmar.
We had a successful and profitable show with many comments about your
wonderful singing. You were very important to us bringing barbershop
back to a superior level for our audience. With your inspiration and
help we may recruit the extra 15 members into the chorus that we need to
make it to the next step. Our goal is to be in the top 5 in LOL district.
Thanks for everything! Great performance!

ACOUSTIX,
I am a newcomer to the barbershop style of music & and only been to one
small concert before seeing you perform in Willmar, MN, April 8th. I
enjoyed the chorus portion of the show, but you guys were absolutely
INCREDIBLE!! I didn't know that four people could make such beautiful
music; your harmonizing and voice control is truly remarkable. Hopefully,
there will be another trip to Minnesota in your future so I can bring some
friends and show them that there's more to music than Metallica. I must
admit, however, I would have loved to hear Joel T. sing all of Unchained
Melody--his bass voice is unbelievable. Thank you so much for such a
wonderful and entertaining evening! Good luck to you all.

Dear Todd,Rick, Joel and Jason,
I just wanted to drop you a line and say how much I enjoyed the show
last week-end. It was an absolute delight to finally have the opportunity to
watch you perform in person after years of enjoying your c.d.s. To be able
to perform live and sound just like your recordings is truly professional in
every sense of the word. I also want to thank all of you but especially
Jason who spoke to each of you and you were able to honour my request to
hear you sing "All The Way" It is my very favorite song that you sing
and I
had been hoping that you would sing it that evening but I do understand that
you can't perform everything all the time, although your audience would not
complain a bit. Having the chance to hear you sing that song out in the hall
for me is a very special memory to me and I thank you for that. May God
bless you all as you travel around singing and performing but more
importantly creating many more wonderful memories for all who hear you.

Todd, Rick, Joel and Jason: I attended the performance in Elmhurst, IL last Sat. evening
and thoroughly enjoyed myself. You guys are to be commended not only for your tremendous
abilities but for your wonderful attitudes with which you continue to have while you are
entertaining us. It was a long day for me, and I just had to drive from an hour away.
How you guys can continue at the pace that you keep is truly amazing. I left after
1:30 a.m. and you were all going strong. And you are doing this every other weekend or so,
unbelievable! Your patience with the sound system was remarkable. I think that you
would have been better off if you had just scrapped using it all together, especially at
the afterglow. The room was small enough that you really didn't need it. But you handled
the situation without batting an eye. I enjoyed the mix of music that you presented at the
show and the 'glow. I purchased your most recent CD and now have all four in my
collection. I do prefer barbershop music, but I am not opposed to other forms of a
'cappella or accompanied music. I believe that you have taken the high road by not
replying publicly to the discussion on the Harmonet. I think that lowering yourself to the
level of the criticism would be a mistake. I did appreciate the posting of Kenny Hatton in
defense of his quartet and yours as well as the Gas House Gang (who we have invited to
appear on our Spring Show next year). Keep doing what your doing. Thanks for a
wonderful night of entertainment

ACOUSTIX... A mere Barbershop quartet......I remember what happened at last year's East
Coast Summit. When Acoustix came on, the audience was excited, but restrained, since it
was a style that many thought they didn't like. Well, the first couple of tunes were very
traditional, but absolutely excellent in tuning, polish, and energy. By the time they sang
a medley of Simon and Garfunkel tunes, they almost had me in tears. All I can say is that
Barbershop is good too, and if is wasn't for the Summit last year, I would still think
that barbershop was limiting and cutesy, at best, instead of the diciplined art form that
it is.

Hi Acoustix! You may not even be back home in texas yet, but I simply
had to get in touch. I saw you for the first time on Saturday night in Plymouth, England
and was absolutely blown away by your show. I sing bass in a chorus (Champagne Cornwall)
and quartet (White Gold), and have always loved close harmony music, but find a lot of
strict barbershop music lacks a certain something. You've certainly found it! The power
and excitement of your singing is really inspiring - it's almost a pity I'm a girl - I
know I can never sound like that!! However, along with the other girls in the quartet
(Tracey, Carole and Celia ) I am determined to work really hard to raise our standard. We
have won a silver medal in the Sweet Adelines UK Convention, and are lucky enough to have
a past BABS gold medallist to coach us, so we have a lot going for us. I came along to the
quartet coaching session on the Sunday morning, and made copious notes which I have
written out and passed out to our chorus members. I'm sure we will benefit at our next
rehearsal. I also couldn't resist buying "Jazz, Jazz, Jazz" and "The New
Something of Sound" (sorry, I haven't got it with me!) and have played them over and
over, driving my poor daughter to distraction. My favourite track at the moment is the
"Shine on your shoes/Stepping out" medley, and we are now in the process of
working to improve the delivery of a couple of our more contemporary songs. Once again,
thank you so much for bringing such quality singing to the far south west of the UK - we
don't often get such a treat way down here!

Hi, You probably don't remember me but I am the young man that sang with the Historyland Chorus in Fredericksburg, VA, when you sang at our spring show. I enjoyed listening to your show immensely and was disappointed in finding out you have no concerts in Virginia on your current itinerary.I was wondering if you might try to schedule a performance somewhere around here in the near future, if so I know a great many people who would be more than willing to attend a performance. Thankyou for your time and consideration. You guys ROCK!

I also attended the London show and oh I think I'm in love again!!!!! What a fabulous
performance and despite the problems with the sound system, as Chris Arnold stated, they
handled it well. Their performance at the afterglow was indeed exceptional and even though
it was 1:30 a.m., they sang as if they had just started. True professionals. I was wishing
that all my barbershop friends could have shared that experience with me. Look for me in
Kitchener in April and again I'll be wishing that I could listen to them sing for days and
days. You just never tire of that kind of musical excellence. Sign me another Big-time

Hi Y'all! Well, they did it again. Acoustix showed this barbershop audience in Canada what
good singing is all about. This was my first opportunity to witness what they call their
"Evening with Acoustix" program. Wow! I
can hardly imagine singing two full powerful sets the way they did, in one show! And the
audience couldn't seem to get enough of them. Of course, there certainly was some hometown
rooting going on for their bass, Joel T. Rutherford. I think the applause meter went off
the scale when he was introduced! The one thing that shines out in my mind about the whole
evening was their professionalism. This came to the ultimate test when they tried to use
their handheld mics and some background tracks. They were great mics, but the ancient
sound system just couldn't handle it. So how did they react? With more humour and patience
than I think I could have managed! The whole audience rallied behind them as they
struggled through, and we were totally captivated by the end of the evening. We also got
to know the name of the sound guy very well by the end of the evening (hi Graham). To
Acoustix, I must say congratulations; you handled a difficult situation very well. It's
too bad that the whole audience couldn't hear them at the afterglow, as the system there
was great. If you happen to be in the Ontario area on April 1 2000, you will not want to
miss their show in Kitchener's Centre in the Square. You can be sure that there will be no
technical glitches there! I can hardly wait already!!!

I just wanted to take a second to let you know how much your performance in Nebraska City meant to me and my best friend. She is going through a horrible time in her life right now and has been very down on herself and the rest of the world. I even feel that her strong faith in God was begining to crumble. We sat in the front row and Mr. Wilson picked her out of the audience to come off the stage and sing to during one of your numbers. After the concert she said to me that that was the first time in over a week that she was in a good mood and having a good time. God is working through you gentlemen!!! Thanks,

It was the second Acoustix concert we have attended . What a treat! Your rhythm, tone and

Just wanted to drop you a line and let
you know how inspirational you guys are! I sang in my very first show in November in
Chicopee, Massachussetts, where you were the guest quartet. I learned first hand what the
term vocal production meant. You really didn't need the sound system! Your rendition of
The Stars and Stripes Forever would have made John Phillip Sousa himself very proud. It
sent chills up my spine! Thank you again for a fine performance and your socializing and
singing at the afterglow.

Hello guys: I am just sending a note to tell you how much I enjoyed your show at
Nanaimo, B.C. a couple of weeks ago. It was a real thrill for me to sing a couple of tags
with you after the afterglow - I was the one who travelled 1000 miles from Saskatoon,
Saskatchewan to see you. (There's another real good old "Canadian" name for you
to try to pronounce, Jason! - Joel may have to help you with this one) Jazz, Jazz, Jazz is
just a great disc! Everyone who hears it is thoroughly entertained - even those who aren't
big barbershop fans. The jazz mix is just the ticket, great job and best wishes for its
success. One more plug for Joel. He is an incredible talent and is a perfect fit -
congratulations! ( the Mr. Grinch song, in particular, was a big hit with me) So take care
and keep it up! I hope to see you again in Fargo, ND next spring. All the best,

Hi guys, I'm just writing to thank you guys for your performance/presence at the Nanaimo,
BC chapter show last weekend! Your singing and presentation were truly amazing both on the
show and the afterglow. But what I was perhaps even more impressed with was your attitudes
after the glow. You stuck around singing more for whoever was still around and sung with
whomever wanted to do a song with you. It was a joy to see that 8- or 10-year-old kid
singing tenor with you on "Sweet and Lovely" and fun watching my lead Harry get
to sing "Irish Blessing" with you guys. Of course my biggest thrill of the night
is when you let me fill in for Joel on "I'm Afraid the Masquerade is Over"! The
only trouble is that the song was over too quickly for me to really enjoy it for what it
was worth (let alone calm down so I could sing well!) By the way, thanks for suggesting
that I'd be a worthy bass in the quartet ("what's your jacket size?") As well,
it's a rare headliner quartet (international gold or otherwise) that sticks around at an
afterglow longer than I do...yes I'm impressed! I also wanted to commend you on the new
CD! I love it. The critics are not out of line when they compare you as in the same realm
as long-standing professional vocal jazz groups! And I also think the instrumentals are
fantastic. This CD combines my two favorite loves in music--instrumental jazz and
interesting vocal harmony (barbershop or jazz). Thank-you for having the courage to take a
step out of barbershop for the CD. I believe you are a great ambassador for barbershop to
the musical world. One question, what's Jim Clancy singing on the "-ble"
syllable of "incredible" about 2:30 into "Unforgettable"? Is that a
low A-flat (below low-C)?! Wow! I have as my dream to sing in a vocal group as skilled as
Acoustix, though I've often fought in my mind with whether I would rather do barbershop or
vocal jazz. You've proven that I don't necessarily need to make the choice! Thanks for the
inspiration. Hope you see you again soon!

After the intermission, ACOUSTIX took the stage. I've been a longtime fan of ACOUSTIX, and
I got to hear them sing from about six hours away earlier in the day during a seminar - my
jaw still sore from my mouth gaping to the floor. The quartet schooled the audience
on how barbershop could sound by ringing chords left and right. They kicked off with
"Tonight, Tonight" (the only note I jotted down about this song was
"WOW"), and followed it with a jazz medley. "God Bless America" was
sung off-mic with overtones whistling over the place. The group also treated the
crowd to a smattering of between-song jokes throughout their set that were really funny,
even though we knew they'd probably told them hundreds of times before. ACOUSTIX's
"Simon & Garfunkel Montage" drew appreciative applause, though I wasn't all
that impressed with the arrangement - maybe I've heard too many groups do S&G. I was,
however, drawn to things ACOUSTIX does on all their songs, like their perfectly
synchronized decrescendos and cutoffs and theeir ability to keep a chord accurate and true
during the decrescendos. The quartet closed with David Wright's amazing arrangement of
Sousa's "Stars & Stripes Forever," which brought them the evening's only
shouts for an encore. All they were allowed to do was come back out for a curtain call.

Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of
attending the East Coast A Cappella Summit in Boston. Many fine a cappella groups
performed, but the only one to get two Standing Os was Acoustix, who really showed this
young audience how good sounds are made. A real triumph. But, this venue also provided for
the introduction of their new Jazz, Jazz, Jazz CD. Definitely not for your average Kibber.
For the rest of us, it is a magnificent compilation of a wide variety of a cappella and
accompanied singing. They bring back several Four Freshmen songs with a flair that sounds
more like the Four Freshmen than the Four Freshmen (huh??). The ultimate treat is truly
unforgettable -- Unforgettable is an arrangement by Gene Puerling of HiLos fame, with the
added voices of Jim and Greg Clancy (Jim hitting a low Bb and Greg taking the high
melody). When you all get to Atlanta, hustle over to the Acoustix both and grab this CD or
tape before they sell out.

A phenomenal collection of a cappella talent onstage last night at the New England
Conservatory in Boston (The Blenders, Street Sounds, Five O'Clock Shadow, Acoustix and the
House Jacks)... Classes were fun and informative during the day (although I still don't
know how to make a snare drum sound). A few guys in black t-shirts from the Big Apple
chorus were going around singing tags with anybody who cared to try; their shirts said
"Sing a tag with strangers" on the front, and on the back, "Strangers no
more!" After singing with them, you were handed a button that said, "I sang a
tag with strangers." Wish I could've said hello to the Harmonetters who said they'd
be there, but there were no name tags... I was curious as to how Acoustix would be
received by the audience; almost all of the male groups I heard during the summit had
hard-driving vocal percussion behind the singing, and there was often a lot of action
onstage, lots of moving around, dancing, etc. I was surprised and pleased to see Acoustix
receive the only standing ovation *in the middle of their set* for their Simon and
Garfunkel medley. Prolonged applause also brought them out for a second bow. CASA did a
great job...can't wait to see what's in store next year.

ACOUSTIX was the final AIC quartet of the show, and they simply took the stage from
everyone else. This quartet has mastered the technique of commanding the stage, and they
left the crowd breathless with their opening of "Tonight" from West Side Story.
The crowd around me was screaming, cheering, clapping so loudly...they wanted to jump out
of their seats but were thinking, well geez, this is just the first song...I gotta wait to
the end, right??...this was just "power singing" at its best. I think it's bari
Jason January's posting of that last killer note that drives us all so crazy! They
continued with a short tribute to the legacy of the late Frank Sinatra, and lead Rick
Middaugh sported a Sinatra style hat as they hit us with "All The Way". Todd's
tenor solo was also featured in this neat number. Another song paid homage to the memory
of Larry Ajer, the only coach this foursome had worked with. They sang their wonderful
medley of Simon and Garfunkle tunes, including "Scarborough Fair", "Mrs.
Robinson" (the audience was applauding at the end of each song...they couldn't
contain themselves! The kickin' rhythms, vocally "jamming" with each other, just
four excellent musicians working their magic on us...it was terrific!), "Feelin'
Groovy" added to the mix, finally concluding with "Bridge Over Troubled
Water". As the quartet reached the tag, they came out in front of the mic stands
(they had hand-held mics) and right to the edge of the stage, bringing the crowd to their
feet in a thundering standing ovation. ACOUSTIX left the audience shakng their heads,
amazed and impressed at what four voices can accomplish.

Recently our most recent International Champion quartet decided to put on a show in
Dallas. It seems they never get to perform for their local SWD fans being on the
road so much of the time. This show was an opportunity to showcase their newest
songs for a few friends, old and new. It was held at the historic Lakewood Theatre near
White Rock Lake and on arrival one could tell it was going to be a special event.
The valet parking was jam packed as the huge searchlight added excitement and ambiance to
a "premiere-like" atmosphere. This was certainly going to be "a
happening". Acoustix were in fine voice and sang very well all night. Their
choice of music was in-line with their upcoming new release (only their third album)
called Jazz, Jazz, Jazz. Every time I hear them sing I wonder what's keeping them from
becoming "famous" and going professional with the popularity on the level of
other less talented a capella groups like the BackStreet Boys and even BoyzIIMen.
The Tonight Show only seems a song away. I think there was more true talent on that stage
that night than I've ever seen anywhere before. The bill included the 20 piece
Dallas Jazz Orchestra (DJO). Currently celebrating their 24th year, the DJO
"rocked the house" and "peeled the paint" with their full, live, in
person energetic treatment of contemporary jazz arrangements as well as some great old Big
Band theme songs. Adding to the presentation was a full screen motion picture
backdrop (this used to be a movie house, after all) of the greats of the Swing Era.
It was almost like the DJO was providing the sound track for the old B&W
footage. A very cool idea. Acoustix sang some great songs like Orange Colored Sky,
Straighten Up & Fly Right, as well as a Nat King Cole Medley. I was also
impressed with two members doing their own solos backed up by the DJO. Rick did his
"Sinatra" rendition of I've Got You Under My Skin and Joel soared with Fly Me To
The Moon. Barbershoppers will remember the beautiful and talented Wendy DeCrow singing
with Dallas Knights a while back. She was just as awesome with Acoustix as well as
with the reunion of a "just for fun" modern group once called Bloebaum's Gang
(named in honor of genius arranger and past district champion Frank Bloebaum). One of the
highlights for me was seeing and hearing once again the 1987 district champion Class Of
The 80's on stage for the first time in 15 years. Greg Clancy and Dan Bell joined
Todd and Jason to perform Fascinatin' Rhythm even better than they did back in their prime
(I had to take that shot). I suspect you'll see them again next Fall (99) in Tulsa.
Out of Town Barbershoppers seen in the audience included Johnny Hammond (Houston), Terry
and Jenny Mercing (Little Rock), and Scott Monroe of Fort Smith as well family members of
the quartet in from Ohio and North Carolina. In all there were people their from
seven states. The show was video taped professionally and will be shown on local cable TV
sometime in the future. Now the quartet plans to work around scheduling conflicts
and finish recording their new CD entitled Jazz, Jazz, Jazz. If its anywhere near as
good as this show - I can't wait

singing this wonderful harmony! You guys are awesome!! Rick, you crawled inside my head
with that voice of yours and made it so easy to blend with you!! Todd, thanks for the tips
on improving my falsetto. Jason and Joel, you are a heck of a lot of fun to spend time
with!! I hope to do it again someday soon!! Thanks again guys for giving me the time of my
life!! PS..the CD's are awesome, and so are the Suntones Collection!!!

Todd, Jason, Joel, and Rick, Just wanted to thank you
again for a super weekend. As expected, ticket sales hit a new record. Everyone who saw
the show has remarked at how well they liked it. This just backs me up even more about
bringing in the great quartets like ACOUSTIX. All the guys at the after-afterglow wanted
me to thank you for giving us the opportunity to sing alongside of you. This is
once-in-a-lifetime for some of us. We have had other quartets that haven't been as open to
that. ACOUSTIX truly is the best! Thanks again for a memorable weekend.

The 29 member Milltones barbershop chorus in Milbank, South Dakota celebrated their 20th
anniversary in grand fashion by hosting Acoustix as their feature attraction. What a super
show by the premiere quartet in our Society! These great guys went all out to make this a
memorable occasion for us, doing 2 shows, the regular afterglow and then an everglow
lasting until 3:30 AM, giving everyone who wanted to a chance to sing with the champs. And
this on daylight savings time weekend! How could a little chapter way out in the boonies
book Acoustix? Easy, just plan and prepare, sell lots of tickets, ads, and sponsorships.
Get the word the word out to every surrounding chapter, we sent out over 100 invitations
to barbershoppers. A famous quote: "If you build it they will come". And they
did, the largest crowd in our 20 years. Thanks, Acoustix for making our year!

Todd, First off, GREAT SHOW (in Nashua, NH)! Wow...what a powerful sound ! I would also
like to say thanks for the photo op and I just wish that I had worked up my nerve to sing
with you before you were sung out. I plan to be at Bolton Landing this year, my son should
be born by then and I would love the chance to sing Irish blessing or Irish Lullaby with
you to my son. I have to say that some champions that I have met have not been as open to
"Novices" as you and Acoustix are. It is a huge boost to the hobby/lifestyle to
have a group like yours that is willing to share the Acoustix experience with those of us
without the International or championship background. Thanks again and PLEASE pass on my
thanks to the rest of Acoustix.

Guys, My wife, Leslie and I were at the Saturday night performance of "Jazz, Jazz,
Jazz". Since then we have talked about it a lot. I just wanted to share with you on
both of our behalfs how impressed we were by every aspect of the show - from the order of
the show which built drama nicely from set to set, to the sound and lights, and then
obviously to your superlative performance. You had only been singing about two minutes
when my wife (an incredible soprano) leaned over to me and said, "WOOOOW!!"
...you don't understand. Leslie has NEVER said "wow". Perhaps I shared too much.
Anyway, this was the best musical review we have ever seen. We look forward to future
opportunities to see and hear you. Congratulations on your fine accomplishment, and
thank-you for putting musical excellence first. Wishing you God's blessings and best of
luck.

Todd, When I grow up I want to sing nearly as good as any one of the members of
Acoustix!!! YOU GUYS WERE FANTASTIC!! I had to leave after you finished your set at the
afterglow but I wanted to stay. My wife was tired so to home we went. I really wanted an
opportunity to talk with you fellows some more and specially the chance to sing one with
you. For a new lead it would have been a real thrill, but such are the ways of life. My
daughter came to the concert with one of her friends. They both were "blown
away" by the program and specially by the Acoustix performance. I am sure they will
come to more concerts and listen to more of the music. I know Steve, her friend is aiming
to buy some CD's. If we can just get these young people to our concerts, I thing most of
them would react in the same old way. "How Sweet The Sound" is awesome. Elvis
would have loved it too. Thanks Todd and please mention my appreciation on behalf of the
Coastal Chordsmen for the wonderful impression you made on all of us. Who knows? Maybe one
day I will get another opportunity to sing one with you guys. Let's keep in touch thru the
old H@rmonet, OK? Your new friend,

Now that its out, I would like to congratulate Joel Rutherford on an awesome performance
in Ann Arbor last Saturday. I was especially impressed after I learned from Todd that he
has only been with them for 9 days, and that was his first show. This guy is a pro. Not
only did he sing his part near flawlessly, (Im a bass, so I was paying special
attention) but he was also interactive in all the other stuff that goes with the show. You
would never guess he was new. If your chapter has them scheduled for your show, or you are
considering hiring Acoustix, you can be assured that you will be getting the same great
quartet that you have always known them to be. Way to go Joel!!!

I have to take this opportunity to express my feelings on the awesome performance for the
Salt Lake City crowd this last weekend. I cant speak for everyone, but the general
consensus amongst the Saltaires was that Joel is IN! What a beautiful sound and what a
great arrangement of new and old Acoustix songs. The only downside to the whole weekend
was there isnt a new CD to add to our collection with Joel at the Bass Helm. We hope
to see ya back here again soon. What a treat for our city and definitely for our chapter.

Last night in only his second gig with Todd, Rick, and Jason, Joel seemed to
effortlessly and professionally perform as if they had been together for some time. I
believe there was more apprehension in the audience by well wishers than on stage. Joel is
perhaps a "cleaner" voice than his predecessor. His background and musical
education and stage experience is apparent as he looks and performs like a member of the
quartet. I also noticed that Acoustix have a lead singer...his name is Rick Middaugh.
Im not sure if Ive ever seen him before now. They sang some tough material
and, perhaps on purpose, didnt hide or cover their new addition. If anything, they
featured songs that featured the bass. A courageous move in light of the room full of the
whos who of the VM and the incredible Dallas Jazz Orchestra (thats another
story). They sang; Shine On Your Shoes/Steppin Out Medley; Straighten Up and Fly
Right; Answer Me (bass solo); Tonight, Tonight; and Unchained Medley. With the DJO they
performed Day By Day; Poinciana; Graduation Day/Blue World Medley; Route 66. What a night
it was! I think we all feel that if Acoustix had decided to hang it up, no one would have
blamed them. Theyve sung for seven long years, been on the road for hundreds of
shows (some champions dont even last seven years). But now with the new kid on the
block, they are refreshed and starting a new chapter in their history. Although time will
tell. . . this could possibly be the best thing that ever happened to them. I suspect
theyll have a new recording out soon, and even a new act to take on the road.
Perhaps well see Rick teachin Joel how to speak English? "All Yall,
eh"? Congratulations to Acoustix and a warm southern welcome to Joel T. Welcome to
the family young man.

Hey Todd! Just back from the afterglow at the Melodeers show you just did. Ill
admit I was a bit apprehensive as to what the finished product would be. But you surpassed
all my expectations and then some. Truly a first class performance and you remain my
favorite quartet. Acoustix has a perceptible new personality now and I think audiences
will react in totally positive ways to the new energies coming across. Does Joel have an
email address set up yet? We corresponded a bit when he was still in the south of Canada -
and would like to drop him a line. How about a snail mail address for him maybe? Great
singing "Theyre All Sweeties" medley with you. Hey - somebodys gotta
keep you guys sharp on the repertoire that made Acoustix the legend that they are right?
You deserved the standing O on Simon/Garfunkel medley...was it Volks? Best of luck to your
chorus and see you in Indy.

Hi Todd. Marcia and I really enjoyed your performance in Little Rock. Your quartet certainly seems to have more fun now, and yet you still sing superbly. Joel is a tremendous addition. Thanks, Guys, for an absolutely wonderful evening of the most fantastic sounds I
ever sat right in front of. Your singing and performance was truly "far too good for
us"! WHAT A SOUND and what a quartet. I describe the sensation as like coaxing our
brains out through our ears in a thin long ribbon of pure pleasure! Ginny and I felt like
we had died and gone to a great BARBERSHOP in the SKY..... where everything is in perfect
harmony and balance and taste. Loved the "down front" God Bless America without
amplification. What a nice touch. "Black Bird" is our favorite and thanks for
doing it at the Afterglow. Thanks, again, and please keep going and keeping the whole
world singing. I never heard Jeff in person but Joel must be every bit as good.....or
better. Hes for sure the best barbershop bass (by far) I have ever heard in
person... and to have learned all those arrangements in two months is ........WOW!

Just a quick note to say how much I enjoyed the show in Milford, CT and sorry I didn't
have a chance to meet you. We had to leave immediately to get back to Mass. Acoustix has
always been my favorite quartet (it was also the first qtet I ever heard in BBShop and
thought everyone sounded like that). I think Joel is an even better match than Jeff
because his sound is such a close match with Rick. During one song they were trading off
on the melody and if closed my eyes I couldn't tell which one was singing.

The first AIC show nicely demonstrated Joel Rutherford's awesome talents. Oooh!
If you had to lose Jeff, Joel was a great find. If you didn't have to lose Jeff, Joel is
still a great find. Seemed a bit shy at the reception, though. Must be a bit overwhelming
to jump from the ranks clear to the top in one step. Joel, you ever going to take time out
to win your own Int'l #1 medal? I'm convinced you've got what it takes.

Hi Todd, Just got on the web and looked the Acoustix right up. Love this site. I found
everything that I was looking for. Would like to share a little story for you though. When
the Acoustix visited our Chapter, they brought the house down with standing ovations on
both nights. After the show on Firday night we held a cast party at the local pub. We, my
wife and I, had just purchased Stars and Stripes, wanted to hear them sing This is the
Moment. Well, when everyone went home, they pulled us aside and sang that very song for my
wife. I have never seen my wife glow so much as when they nailed the tag. Whenever they
are in the area I try to make their shows. Again, thanks guys for the way you sang for my
wife as now she is a Barbershop junkie for life.

I have had the pleasure of seeing ACOUSTIX perform during the previous times that you have
visited our conventions and I enjoyed it immensely. When you came to Harrogate in 1995 I
had only just discovered barbershop singing and I was lucky enough to get front row seats
to see the Saturday night show. From that moment on I was hooked so thanks for helping me

I and a bunch of other guys from BGSU got to see the show you did in Canton, OH.
I have been fortunate enough to see the your quartet perform several times now and each
time it just gets better and gives me more goose bumps. When ACOUSTIX rips a barbershop
tag/song, people's jaws drop and they long to sing that type of music. I know that
ACOUSTIX is a main reason for why I am in barbershop at such an early age. I can't wait
for the release of your new CD and I DEFINITELY can NOT wait to see ACOUSTIX perform on
the Maumee Valley show on May 18th. I'll be there and you can bet that everyone will jump

Hi guys! I just had to tell you, like you don't already know. You are awesome!!!
You have a new fan. I had never seen you before. I bought one of your tapes, I think it's
already worn out and It's only been 2 days since I got it. I'm kinda new to Barbershop. I
belong to the sweet Adelines Lincolnaire Chorus. My mom has belonged for awhile and she
got me into it about a year ago. I've always sang, but mostly in different bands, at
weddings, etc. This is so different. But I love it, It's the best thing I have ever done.
I just recently joined a Quartet, They lost two of their members so I'm working real hard
at that. I want us to be as good as you, No let me rephrase that BETTER than you!! Ha Ha.
Well just had to say hi, your great, hope I get a chance to see you perform again someday
soon. Thanks for a great evening at the Lied....

Hi Guys: Just wanted to drop you a line and thank you again for the outstanding performance you did at the Lied Center in Lincoln. We had one of the largest crowds that we have had since we moved our shows to the Lied about 7 years ago. I also want to thank you for the treatment of my two girls who were the sellers. If they weren't laughing with you they were crying at the beauty of your songs.
